S. Korea c-stores to sell more medicines
South Korea announced plans to expand the types of medicines that are being sold at the country's convenience stores, reported The Korea Times.
Currently, only 13 types of medicines that treat common ailments such as fever, colds, and digestive problems are being dispensed in convenience store chains.
As part of the new regulations, the government is considering to include 12 more kinds of medication.
Comparing South Korea with other countries, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance said that the United States has around 30,000 over-the-counter drugs while Japan dispenses around 2,000 drugs.
This measure is part of the government’s five-year plan to strengthen the service industry amid concern that the manufacturing-led economy is starting to slow down.
