Service station and road maintenance sectors to meet in Rome for Asphaltica World

Participants in both the service station as well as the road maintenance businesses will have a chance “for the first time” to interact in the Asphaltica World conference to be held in Rome during October 29-30, organizers said.

Asphaltica, an exhibition devoted to road paving and infrastructure management as well as technology was scheduled in that time to coincide with the Oil and non-Oil S&TC exhibition which targets fuel storage, transport and distribution in addition to the car wash sector. Both events will be held in the Palazzo dei Congressi exhibition center in Rome.

“Given that oil is a raw material used in the production of asphalt, our aim is to develop new synergies between these two different but adjacent sectors, both of which seek to promote mobility and are characterized by their considerable commitment to research, innovation and sustainability", said Ettore Riello, Veronafiere CEO.

Italy’s asphalt industry has seen its production levels halved, despite the ongoing and urgent need to upgrade the over 480 thousand kilometers of Italy’s deteriorating road network, while the country’s 24 thousand service stations need a thorough overhaul – a reorganization process that could mean the closure of at least five thousand stations, organizers said. These are just some of the topics that will be addressed in the workshops, seminars and training courses being organized in Rome.

Oil&nonOil-S&TC will be taking a close look at the future of the fuel transport, storage and distribution network, without forgetting the growing phenomenon of white-label stations and independent operators, the non-oil business and the car wash sector, as well as the spread of LNG (liquified natural gas) as an alternative fuel.
