Shell adds 16 ultra-fast EV charging sites across Baden-Württemberg
New locations deliver up to 400 kW charging capacity, strengthening regional infrastructure and retail partnerships.
Shell Recharge has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging network in Baden-Württemberg with the addition of 16 new ultra-fast charging locations, offering power outputs of up to 400 kW. The rollout reinforces Shell’s infrastructure across the region, combining installations at its own service stations with partner sites including REWE and Penny stores.
The new locations include a high-capacity charging hub in Walldorf with 12 charging points, alongside multiple sites positioned along key transport routes and urban corridors. The expansion is designed to support growing EV demand, improve accessibility and reduce charging times for drivers across the state.
Baden-Württemberg remains one of Germany’s leading regions for e-mobility, with EV adoption rates above the national average. Stuttgart, in particular, stands out as a central growth market, with a significantly higher share of battery-electric vehicles compared to the rest of the country.
Shell said the deployment contributes to improving charging coverage and reliability for municipalities, commuters and retail destinations. The network integrates existing service stations with retail locations, reflecting a broader trend of combining mobility services with commercial hubs.
Florian Glattes, Head of Shell’s retail business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, said: “With the new ultra-fast chargers, we are creating an infrastructure that EV drivers can rely on.”
With this expansion, Shell operates 93 charging locations and 342 charging points in Baden-Württemberg, as part of a wider network of approximately 2,200 fast-charging points across Germany.
