Shell-BG merger clears US antitrust hurdle

Royal Dutch Shell said on June 16 that “its recommended combination” with BG Group has overcome its first antitrust hurdle by receiving early termination of the US antitrust waiting period from the US Federal Trade Commission.

The information was provided by Shell in a press release issue in The Hague.

Shell's plans to acquire BG with shares and cash were already announced earlier this year.

Shells’s CEO has said he is confident the transaction will receive antitrust authorities approval in all the countries. Completion of the deal is expected by next year.
