Shell crowns 2025 global barista champion
Viktória Macaláková from Slovakia wins Shell Café Barista Cup in Hamburg, showcasing excellence in craft and customer service.
Shell has named Viktória Macaláková from Slovakia the 2025 Shell Café Global Barista Champion. The final of the second annual Shell Café Barista Cup took place this week in Hamburg, Germany, bringing together top talent from 11 countries across Europe and the Americas.
Competitors earned their spots through local contests at Shell Café locations and were evaluated on brand and product knowledge, customer service, espresso and milk-based coffee preparation, latte art, and a signature iced drink. The event is part of Shell’s broader barista training programme aimed at ensuring consistent quality and elevating standards across its network.
“Congratulations to our winner Viktória, who exemplifies the dedication to craft and customer service we strive for at Shell Café worldwide,” said David Bunch, Shell Group Executive Vice President for Mobility & Convenience. “As mobility evolves, we’re enhancing our offerings to help customers get more out of every visit.”
Viktória Macaláková shared her excitement about the win: “The best part about working in a Shell Café is seeing my regular customers come in for their daily cappuccinos. Their loyalty is the best recognition that I’m excelling at doing something meaningful.”
Shell Mobility & Convenience serves around 33 million customers daily through more than 40,000 Shell-branded sites in over 80 countries. Shell Café, launched in 2021, now operates in 38 markets worldwide, offering premium coffee and food.
