Shell Recharge welcomes Germany’s largest ultra-fast charging hub
The new Rheda-Wiedenbrück site marks Shell’s 500th public charging location in the country.
Shell Recharge has inaugurated its largest ultra-fast charging hub in Germany, located in Rheda-Wiedenbrück (North Rhine-Westphalia), marking the company’s 500th site within the German Shell Recharge network.
The facility features 12 ultra-fast charging points, including four designed for trucks and motorhomes up to twelve meters in length. Located next to the Shell service station on Bielefelder Straße, the site offers direct access to the A2 motorway exit Rheda-Wiedenbrück and the B61, making it a key stop for long-distance travelers and logistics operators.
“We are expanding our nationwide fast-charging network in Germany,” said Florian Glattes, Head of Shell’s retail business in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. “Our goal is to make charging as simple and reliable as possible — right where people already are on the move.”
The aim, Glattes noted, is to make EV charging part of everyday life. The Rheda-Wiedenbrück station offers a shop with a café, car wash, restrooms, and an Amazon Locker, ensuring convenience for drivers during charging stops.
In addition to the new hub, Shell is expanding its charging network through its subsidiary ubitricity, which operates around 1,000 additional AC charging points across Germany.
