7-Eleven has signed a new partnership to provide its customers a second-hand marketplace at its stores in South Korea. The retailer has signed a new partnership with Joonggonara, a second-hand marketplace platform, to launch this new service.

Non-face-to-face transactions provided by the Joonggonara association will promote the virtuous circulation of resources and safe transactions between individuals, the company said in a press release published by local news site The Korea Biz Wire.

Thanks to this partnership, sellers that are certified by the platform can consign the selling item at the nearest 7-Eleven location. When the product is sold, the buyer can pick it up at the time of their choice. The convenience company expects that this new addition to its services can attract users of Joonggonara to its stores and reduce the risk of crimes that can happen in this type of transaction.

This news is a step up in the association between both firms after 7-Eleven launched the sale of items that are near their shelf life dates through its partner’s platform. The Lotte Group, the group that owns the 7-Eleven franchise proprietary company, participated in last year’s acquisition of Joonggonara as a financial investor. As the media reported, the firm aims to create a synergy using both online and offline retail channels.
