South Korea: GS25 opens a unnmaned c-store in Seoul
The store works similarly to Amazon Go.
GS25, a South Korean convenience store chain owned by GS Retail Co., opened a unnmaned, frictionless checkout convenience store in Jung District, Seoul, reports The Korea Bizwire.
Customers can enter the store by scanning a BC Paybook QR code from BC Card’s mobile payment app at the speed gate. 34 deep-learning cameras will recognize shoppers’ behavior inside the store, and 300 weight sensors will detect the number of items that they choose. All the items will be automatically paid for at the exit through artificial intelligence technology, and a mobile receipt will be issued instantly.
A video-recognition system with a speaker will guide the customers through speakers when assistance is needed.
GS25 is planning to gradually introduce technologies that guide customers to promotions when they approach a product stand.
