Hyundai Oilbank has created a digital all-in-one service station inside the metaverse, a platform that users can access to visit a 3D model of the site. The virtual station was designed to promote other business areas of the company as well as its wide range of fuel options for drivers.

The company published a press release stating that the hybrid energy station can be accessed through PCs and smart devices, according to a report by local news site Aju Business Daily. Customers can access Hyundai Oilbank’s channel and use the station’s facilities to fuel vehicles with fossil fuel, hydrogen, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and electricity.

The metaverse is a virtual space where users can access through their own personalized avatars and take part in different social or economic activities. The virtual station was created in Zepeto, a metaverse platform created by web service company Naver, which enables 250 million users to create their own 3D avatars using face recognition.

Currently, the metaverse is a technology that it’s still in its initial phase of deployment, but that hasn’t stopped companies from investing in its development and research for future business opportunities. The media outlet quoted Emergen Research’s projection of the technology’s global market and stated that its projected to grow from $47.7 billion in 2020 to $828.95 billion in 2028.

Other researchers have made similar projections, such as Reportlinker.com’s recent “Global Metaverse Industry" report which projects that the global metaverse market will reach US$758.6 Billion by 2026. Amidst this scenario, several companies have originated or extended their business reach, such as Meta or the previously mentioned Naver, in order to keep track of this growing trend.
