Spain: Burger King takes control of its restaurants at Repsol sites
Repsol is handing over the management of its gas station restaurants to Burger King after five years of partnership that would have made the Spanish oil company Europe's biggest franchisee of the fast-food chain.
The initial 2011 agreement targeted 150 Burger king restaurants in Repsol gas stations over the next five years. According to the companies, the new position is not a breakaway from the agreement but a “change of model”.
From now on it will be Burger King which decides where and when to open and close restaurants located in the Repsol network, reports Europa Press.
Burger King believes that this way each company will be responsible for its area of expertise, allowing growth plans to move faster.
