Spanish antitrust authority fines Repsol, Cepsa, Disa, Galp, Meroil
The Spanish antitrust authority, known as CNMC for its Spanish acronym, said on February 25 it has fined Repsol and Cepsa with 20 million euros and 10 million euros respectively over “infractions” to the country’s pro-competition laws in relation to their retail operations.
The authority also fined Disa with a 1.3 million euro fine and imposed smaller fines to Galp Energia Espana as well as against Meroil.
The infractions included the exchange of information and other improper agreements between Cepsa and Repsol in relation to retail activities of the two companies in the province of Zaragoza.
Similarly, Galp and Meroil held similar communication and entered similar accords in the region of Barcelona, the authority said.
The companies have two months to appeal the decision.
