TA on buying spree to expand its c-store network
TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) announced the purchase of 36 stores located throughout Missouri and Kansas as it sets to expand in the convenience store network, reported CSP Daily News.
The 36 stores, whose sellers have not been disclosed, will undergo renovations and will be rebranded as Minit Mart convenience stores.
These recent acquisitions are part of the plan to acquire 124 convenience stores for about $230 million between August and end of the year.
In August, the company bought MKM Oil Co.’s Fast N Fresh chain of 33 stores in Northern Illinois and 21 Thoroughbred Energy stores in Kentucky from Traxx Cos.
It had already purchased two travel centers for $8.4 million, 26 convenience stores for $38.7 million, which included 19 Best Oil Little Stores mostly in Minnesota, 19 convenience stores mostly in Kansas and Missouri from Overland Park, Kansas-based GasMart USA for $27 million.
The Westlake, Ohio-based company aims to open more than 200 convenience stores in 11 Midwest states.
The expansion all started in 2013 when it acquired 31 Minit Mart stores in Bowling Green, Kentucky for $67 million.
Currently, TA has businesses which include 406 convenience stores operating in 43 states and Canada under the Minit Mart, TA and Petro Stopping Centers brands.
