Tanzania to build more CNG stations
The Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) plans to build 15 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in the country's commercial capital Dar Es Salaam to provide cleaner and more affordable type of energy, reports AllAfrica.com.
Aside from CNG stations, the plan also involves the construction of three trunk pipelines of 65 kilometers.
The project, which aims to convert Tanzania into a gas economy, however, is still pending due to lack of funds.
A natural gas network that connects the whole city would cost $55.1 billion, according to The East African report published in 2012.
So far TPDC already built a $2.8 million-pipeline to the Mikocheni Light Industrial Area, which now also supplies gas to 70 houses in the area.
