Thirteen c-stores included in the ‘2016 Hot 100 Retailers’
Thirteen c-store companies were included in the 2016 Hot 100 Retailers ranking that saw supermarkets dominate the leading positions and GPM Investments land third place.
The annual ranking by National Retail Federation’s STORES magazine is based on sales growth in 2015 compared to 2014. Large supermarkets dominate the first places as food retailing continues to be the strongest part of the industry.
GPM Investment is the highest-placed c-store company at No. 3 with the company posting a 119% sales growth from 2014 to 2015. Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, the company had a network of 406 stores last year after three years of expansions.
Canadian retailing giant Alimentation Couche-Tard (No. 12) and Casey’s General Stores (No. 38) were the second and third highest c-store chains in the ranking. With its 5,684 stores in 2015, Couche-Tard managed to increase its sales growth by 34%, reaching worldwide retail sales of $11.678 billion.
CST Brands (No. 39), Kwik Trip (No. 42), ampm (No.50), Stripes (No. 54), Speedway (No. 62) and Wawa (No. 71) are some of the other thirteen c-store companies selected in the 2016 Hot 100 Retailers ranking.
