Thorntons announced the opening of its newest Chicagoland store—and the first in Riverwoods. The site opened last week and expanded its retail network throughout the state up to 88 locations, 68 of which are in Chicagoland.

This new 4,400 square foot facility is set on 1.69 acres and features a number of amenities to serve on-the-go guests including self-checkout services, LED lighting for safety and energy efficiency, freshly made burritos and sandwiches prepared throughout the day, variety of beverages and 16 auto fueling positions.

The company celebrated the opening last Friday with a celebration that included mystery gift cards for customers as well as music, games and giveaways. During the Ribbon Cutting ceremony, representatives from the chain presented Northern Illinois Food Bank with a $2,500 donation to honor the new store opening and as part of Thorntons’ ongoing commitment to help feed the hungry in all of the communities where it serves.

Based in Louisville, Kentucky, Thorntons is part of the bp portfolio and currently operates more than 200 stores that provide fresh foods, beverages, and fuel in six states: Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Florida.
