UK: bp and Mercedes-Benz trial digital in-truck fuel payment system
The pilot trial run with Wren Kitchens has shown positive results in the optimization of the purchasing and management services.
bp and Mercedes-Benz have succeeded on the first trial for their joint venture that involves the implementation of the In-Truck Pay app in Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks. The software is designed specifically for fleet operators to help minimize the time spent on sites in a three step sequence: drivers confirm the site, unlock the pump and refuel.

For the pilot trial, 11 vehicles from Wren Kitchens fleet, a Mercedes-Benz truck customer, implemented bp In-Truck Pay. This technology involves connecting the vehicle’s system to the base through the app. The connectivity allows the automation of different processes such as entering mileage data to provide managers with accurate information.

bp’s system was developed with the Multimedia Cockpit, Interactive in mind, a technology incorporated in the latest generation Mercedes-Benz Actros. It integrates the Truck App Portal, an open platform with a Multi-Touch Display that is used by fleet managers to assign apps to their vehicles. This removes the need for paying in shops or entering data for drivers, with just logging the fuel transaction and paying for the fuel itself, eliminating the complications that may come up in the payment process.
