Uniper has agreed to supply Q1 Energie AG with bio-LNG, marking the companies' first commercial partnership. The renewable fuel will be made available through the Q1 Bio-LNG network across several German states for use in road freight transport.

The deal underscores both companies' shared goal of advancing lower-emission fuel solutions for heavy-duty transport.

"This partnership with Q1 underlines the growing importance of bio-LNG in heavy-duty transport. With our integrated supply chain, we have the expertise to provide renewable gases across the entire value chain, from sourcing through liquefaction to supplying our customers," said Nils Beenen, Managing Director at Uniper Energy Sales GmbH.

"With Uniper, we are further expanding our supply capacity for certified bio-LNG and gaining another reliable partner to help drive the shift toward lower-emission mobility," said Sven Haberkorn, Head of Purchasing & Tank Storage at Q1 Energie AG.

The sustainably produced biomethane is liquefied at the Gate terminal in Rotterdam using existing LNG infrastructure, then stored as bio-LNG before being transported in ISO tank containers to a central warehouse in Germany, from where Q1 handles distribution to filling stations.
