US: 7-Eleven completes 77 drone deliveries
7-Eleven in partnership with drone startup Flirtey has been able to make 77 drone deliveries since its start in July in the United States.
"Flirtey is the world's leader in the drone delivery industry and we have now successfully completed the first month of routine commercial drone deliveries to customer homes in partnership with 7-Eleven," said Flirtey CEO Matthew Sweeny.
The ‘flying’ delivery has been well received because of its speed and convenience.
One of its added features is an app where customers can determine the status of their orders as well as get notifications on when their drone is loaded, when it departs from the store, and when it is arriving at their doorstep.
The most popular items customers ordered using the drone service were food, cold drinks, and over-the-counter medicines.
7-Eleven and Flirtey are planning to expand drone delivery operations in 2017.
