US: CITGO, partners raise funds for Boston Red Sox charity
CITGO Petroleum Corporation along with SEI Fuels, Global Partners, and Tradewinds raised $20,000 from July to October for the Red Sox Foundation, the official team charity of the Boston Red Sox.
The amount raised came from CITGO-Red Sox spirit pump initiative and “Fuel Change” donation boxes, according to a company release.
Under the spirit pump initiative, a portion of customer’s fuel purchase was donated directly to Red Sox Foundation. Customers also contributed through “Fuel Change” donation boxes, and some received Red Sox Foundation baseball mobile for their $1 or $5 donation.
A check will be awarded to the Red Sox Foundation on December 9 at the organization’s annual Holiday Party at Fenway Park.
The funds will benefit research, youth programs, scholarships, and local community support for the Foundation.
“From the CITGO sign shining brightly over Fenway Park to all the CITGO stations owned and operated by CITGO Marketers and Retailers across New England, we greatly value our customers and enjoy sharing Red Sox pride with the community,” said Alan Flagg, CITGO Assistant Vice President of Supply and Marketing.
Gena Borson, Executive Director of the Red Sox Foundation, thanked CITGO and other companies involved.
“We are equally grateful for the local community members who donated and utilized the spirit pumps to help provide opportunities for children and families through our health, recreational, educational and social service enrichment programs.”
