US: Clean Energy reports 23% increase in number of vehicles that get its CNG
Clean Energy Fuels Corp, a US-based company that markets compressed natural gas (CNG) among other fuels, said that it has seen a 23% annual increase in the number of vehicles it started to serve since the start of the year compared with the same period in 2013.
Clean Energy said that it served from the start of the year “5,510 additional natural gas vehicles” which begun fueling in its CNG network.
The company added that it won a contract to “design, build and operate” a new $8.1-million CNG fuel station to service for a fleet of publict transportation buses owned by the city of Jacksonville which will be converted so they can operate on CNG instead of diesel. The site will also be accessible to other local fleets.
The new station to be located in Jacksonville, which is in the north of Florida, will include facilities for the conversion of the units so that they can run on CNG, Clean Energy said.
The company is a leading CNG distributor in North America. It also owns a CNG joint venture in Peru among other assets.
