USA: Republic Services opens new CNG fuelling station in Minnesota

Republic Services continue investing in CNG-based transport with the launch of a new natural gas fuelling station and more than 50 new CNG-powered trucks to serve de Twin Cities region in Minnesota.

The waste collection company Republic Services continues to replace its diesel-powered trucks with new vehicles that use CNG. In the Twin Cities area, Republic has over 500 employees and serves more than 200,000 households.

“We are dedicated to providing our customers and the communities we serve with outstanding service, while doing business in the most sustainable manner possible,” says Jeff Marone, general manager of Republic Services.

Based on EPA calculations, the carbon emissions reduction benefits from Republic’s CNG powered fleet in the Twin Cities is equivalent to planting more than 30,000 mature trees annually, reports Recycling Today.

Nationwide, Republic operates a fleet of more than 2,500 CNG vehicles and 38 natural gas fuelling stations.
