USA: Second Amazon Go store to open in Seattle
E-commerce giant Amazon will open its second cashierless store later this year in downtown Seattle (Washington).
Six months after debuting its first Amazon Go store in Seattle, the internet retailer has announced plans to open the second brick-and-mortar store in the same city.
The innovative system requires preregistered customers to scan their app on the way in, cameras then track the customer’s shopping, making note of each item picked up and adding it to a virtual cart connected to the shopper’s Amazon account.
“We are excited to bring Amazon Go to 920 Fifth Ave. in Seattle. The store will open in Fall 2018,” said an Amazon spokesperson.
The first Amazon Go store stocks a high-end assortment of grab-and-go lunch foods, as well as chilled beverages, sweets, snacks, ready-made salads and sandwiches, frozen foods and a wall of meal kits for dinners, according to USA Today.
