USA: Wawa aims to open more than 20 new stores in 2022
The convenience store chain announced its plans for a new expansion across Florida that involves hiring over 2,000 new employees.
Wawa started the year announcing its plans for a new expansion across the state of Florida. The retailer published last Wednesday that it is seeking to open more than 20 stores over the year and to hire over 2,000 new employees as part of its growth strategy.
“We are excited to continue growing our Florida presence as we approach our tenth anniversary of serving our friends and neighbors in the sunshine state later this year. As we expand our stores, services and product offer, we are thrilled to provide new jobs and advancement opportunities for our associates,” said Stephanie Capaccio, Director of People Team Operations at Wawa, in a press release published by Florida Insider.
As stated by the company, the new positions will be a mix of full-time and part-time, only possible thanks to its seasonal and store growth across the region. The positions involve responsibilities such as in store-level customer service, management and supervision across its current and new locations.
“Anyone who visits Wawa knows that it’s our incredible associates who drive our business and make Wawa so special. Beyond adding more than 20 new stores in Florida this year, we expect to reach a total of 10,000 associates as part of our Wawa family in Florida. It’s a great time to join Wawa and experience our unique culture,” added Capaccio.
The current campaign started on January 3 and will continue through the end of March. Wawa currently operates approximately 700 convenience stores in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Regarding Florida, it is one of its main businesses, operating roughly 230 locations across the territory opened throughout the last decade.
