Valora unites fresh food with convenience offerings
The Swiss energy and convenience retailer is launching a new concept called “The Kitchen.”
Consumer demand for fresh food on the go has surged over the past few years. In response to this trend, Valora is set to open its first avec store with the integrated "The Kitchen" concept near the University of Zurich.
In an open kitchen, popular to-go dishes will be freshly prepared from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, the store will operate without staff, with access, shopping, and payment managed through the avec app. This new store also marks the first avec location in a residential neighborhood. By the end of the year, seven more avec stores featuring the new "The Kitchen" concept are expected to open.
Valora's "foodvenience" strategy is based on the consistently rising consumer demand for fresh to-go meals and the desire for convenient, quick shopping. In addition to traditional items like pizza, chicken wings, hamburgers, and meatloaf, the new avec store will offer a wide range of vegan options such as falafel wraps, veggie hotdogs, veggie burgers, hummus sticks, and oriental couscous.
"With our new 'The Kitchen' concept, we aim to provide our customers with warm and fresh meals every day. Additionally, we are expanding our range of fresh takeaway sandwiches," says Roger Vogt, CEO Retail at Valora.
In the coming months, Valora plans to extend the new avec concept The Kitchen to other larger locations across Switzerland. By the end of this year, seven avec stores featuring the new concept are expected to open, two of which will be in new locations.
