Vehicle Identification as payment method for fuel expands in Dubai
The Emirates National Oil Company and the Emirates Petroleum Product Company in the United Arab Emirates have installed an Identification Pass (VIP) in some 40,000 vehicles, a company involved in supplying such equipment told PetrolPlaza news on December 22 in an email.
The installations will allow clients to buy fuel without using cash or credit cards nor would service personnel be needed, Turkish equipment supplier Turpak said.
Mobile payments systems have gained ground in recent years in all areas of the world.
The information could not be immediately confirmed with the fuel companies.
