Convenience retailer Wawa is significantly expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure through a new partnership with IONNA, a nationwide EV charging joint venture. The collaboration will bring IONNA's Rechargery stations to multiple Wawa locations, beginning with a site in Daytona Beach, Florida, set to open next week.

The partnership represents IONNA’s largest single charging commitment to date and positions Wawa as a growing force in the EV transition. The new Rechargery at Wawa's W. International Speedway location in Daytona Beach will feature 400kW ultra-fast Genuine Charge Dispensers, canopy-covered bays, car care amenities, and convenient access to Wawa’s full food, beverage, and retail offerings.

Additional Wawa-hosted Rechargeries are already under construction in Bradenton, Pensacola, and Orlando, Florida. These installations further support Wawa’s mission to deliver speed, comfort, and convenience to customers on the move.

“With an ongoing commitment to providing our customers with speed and convenience, our new collaboration with IONNA does just that,” said Rich Makin, Chief Fuel Officer at Wawa. “As we continue to expand our EV services, we are thrilled to provide our customers with a one-stop for fresh food, beverages and EV charging!”

The expansion also helps IONNA reach a key operational milestone, bringing the company’s contracted EV charging bay total to 3,064, with over 400 bays under construction or beyond. IONNA aims to deploy 30,000 bays by 2030.

With this new rollout, Wawa is reinforcing its role as not only a beloved convenience store brand but also a strategic retail partner in the country’s growing EV infrastructure network.
