Wodoq to open 15 new stations in Qatar
Qatar Fuel (Wodoq) is planning to open 15 new service stations this year in Doha and other parts of Qatar.
At the annual general meeting of Wodoq, CEO Ibrahim Jaham al-Kuwari outlined the company´s expansion plans for 2016, including the addition of 15 new gas stations, reports the Gulf Times.
“This year, we will try our best to open 15 new stations. We are in negotiations with the government for around 40 lands, which will be given to us soon. As we said earlier, our plan is to operate 100 stations by 2020,” said al-Kuwari.
Qatari fuel retailer Wodoq opened 19 new sites last year, bringing the total number of stations in Qatar up to 56.
“In addition, construction of new stations is gathering pace in Assalata Al Jadidah, Al Thumama, and Jabal Thuaylib in the Lusail area. It is expected that these stations will open in 2017 after they’ve been issued the final necessary licences to begin operation,” al-Kuwari reported.
Oil-rich Qatar has a population of 2.6 million and enjoys the fourth highest GDP per capita in the world, according to the International Monetary Fund.
