Amazon’s first cashierless store opens to the public
Amazon Go, Amazon’s checkout-free convenience style-store, finally opens its doors to the public after a year in beta testing with Amazon employees.
Located at 2131 7th Ave. in Seattle, Washington, the store is fully equipped with cameras, sensors, and “Just Walk Out Technology” which means customers can just walk in, take goods they want to purchase, and leave without the need to cue to pay. Customers will be billed through their credit card linked to their Amazon account.
Aside from an Amazon account, customers need to have the free Amazon mobile app on their iPhone or Android phones in order to shop.
The store offers grab-and-go meals, grocery items, and a wine section manned by an Amazon staff, reports Reuters.
No cashiers but there are workers in the store who stock shelves, prepare food, and assist if customers have questions.
