Aral pilots HVO for passenger cars at German stations

After offering the renewable diesel to truck customers at around 50 sites for a year, the bp brand is testing it for cars at five locations, starting in Düsseldorf.

Aral has started offering Aral HVO to passenger car drivers in a pilot at its station on Münchener Straße in Düsseldorf. Four more pilot sites are planned in Berlin, Stuttgart, Lingen and Wolfsburg. The fuel has been available to commercial vehicle customers at around 50 stations across Germany since its launch for that segment a year ago.

HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) is made from waste and residual materials such as used cooking oil. It meets the EN 15940 standard and can be used as a direct replacement for diesel, or alternated with it, in compatible diesel cars and trucks approved by the manufacturer. It also contains the company’s anti-dirt formula, whose cleaning effect is certified by TÜV Rheinland.

“With the introduction of Aral HVO for passenger cars, we are expanding our range of quality and high-performance fuels. We want to respond even more strongly to our customers’ demand for fuel alternatives,” said Achim Bothe, CEO of Aral.

With the Aral Fuel & Charge card, car drivers can also refuel with HVO at stations operated by acceptance partners.
