California car wash uses no water, launches mobile app

Manhattan Beach car wash company Envi uses a waterless, biodegradable plant-based solution to clean cars, reported The Beach Reporter.

The solution, used by car enthusiasts in Australia and was discovered by Envi CEO Chad Zani while he was still living there, protects the car from UV light and contains no noxious substances that can damage the environment.

Zani was able to get the expensive solution at a lower cost by convincing the chemical manufacturer to become Envi’s major shareholder.

By using 8 or 16 ounces of solution, Envi saves up 10,000 ounces of water or more, the amount usually consumed by a normal car wash.

Recently, Envi has launched a smartphone application that allows users to avail of the company’s cleaning and detailing services anywhere.

“When your car is sitting there at work or sitting there at home, you can have a professional come and take care of it,” Zani said.

The trailblazing company also aims to employ 10,000 deaf people once it expands. Currently, 95 percent of its employees are deaf.

On its website, Envi has likewise pledged to donate 50 cents for each detailing job to charities. Envi charges $30 for exterior service, which includes paint, windows, tires and rims, and $40 to have the car interior cleaned.
