Dino Polska rolls out rooftop solar with AVIA Solar at 120 supermarkets
The rollout is intended to cut energy bills and reduce the retailer’s carbon footprint in Poland.
Dino Polska is set to equip 120 of its supermarkets in Poland with rooftop photovoltaic installations delivered by AVIA Solar, the renewables brand of Unimot Energia i Gaz, part of the UNIMOT Group. The rollout is intended to cut energy bills and reduce the retailer’s carbon footprint as power prices and climate pressure remain high.
Under the deal, AVIA Solar will design, supply and install PV systems tailored to each store. According to the companies, the solar panels are expected to cut Dino Polska’s CO₂ emissions by more than 2.84 million kilograms a year, roughly the emissions of 1,267 passenger cars.
The program forms part of Dino Polska’s wider energy-efficiency strategy, which aims to increase the chain’s energy self-sufficiency and limit its reliance on the grid, particularly during summer peaks when electricity demand for cooling is highest.
In 2023, Unimot Energia i Gaz installed a 690 kWp system on the roof of one of Dino’s central warehouses, using 1,725 modules across 3,400m2. Further investments have included three 1,000 kWp rooftop PV systems built with non-invasive mounting structures to maximize usable roof area.
