ENGIE Vianeo grows public chargers in Belgium
The new contract across Wallonia aims to strengthen ENGIE’s position in Europe’s EV market with over 2,900 new charging points.
ENGIE Vianeo has been awarded a major public charging contract in Belgium, securing plans to deploy 2,926 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across Wallonia over the next two years. The project, approved by regional authorities, will make ENGIE one of the largest public EV charging operators in the country and significantly expand access to charging infrastructure across nearly the entire region.
The Wallonia rollout will consist of 22 kW public charging points installed in a wide range of locations, including city centers, village squares, sports facilities, and other public spaces. ENGIE Vianeo will be responsible for operating the network for a 10‑year period, with coverage planned across 242 municipalities.
The new contract follows the company’s selection earlier this year to deploy charging infrastructure in the Brussels‑Capital Region. Combined, the two projects further consolidate its presence in Belgium’s public charging market.
ENGIE Vianeo currently operates close to 7,000 public charging points nationwide and has set a target of reaching 12,000 charging points in Belgium by 2028.
The Wallonia deployment also supports the company’s broader European growth strategy in e-mobility. The group aims to rank among the top five public EV charging operators in Europe by 2030, with a target of 25,000 charging points across the continent, including infrastructure dedicated to heavy‑duty vehicles.
ENGIE Vianeo already operates nearly 11,000 charging points in France and Belgium, with additional deployments underway in Germany.
