EVgo and Regency Centers have expanded their partnership to deploy more than 400 additional fast-charging stalls at shopping centers across the United States, further integrating electric vehicle (EV) charging into retail destinations.

The expansion builds on a relationship that began in 2020, when EVgo installed its first charging station at a Regency property. Today, the charging provider operates more than 150 stalls across Regency's portfolio, with the new deployment expected to increase the real estate company's EV charging footprint by more than 20%.

The new charging stations will be installed at Regency shopping centers in major metropolitan markets, including Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia, among other states.

“EV drivers are looking for convenient charging options where they already spend their time, like grocery-anchored shopping centers,” said Scott Levitan, Executive Vice President of Growth at EVgo. “Expanding our partnership with Regency will help us meet growing customer demand while making public fast charging more accessible in the places people shop, dine and connect with their communities.”

Each new site developed through the partnership is expected to feature up to 24 high-power EVgo chargers. According to the company, the chargers can deliver a full charge in as little as 15 minutes, depending on the vehicle.

The companies said the locations were selected to align with consumer shopping habits. Grocery-anchored retail centers are among the most popular destinations for public charging, allowing drivers to combine charging sessions with shopping, dining and other errands during typical dwell times.

The initiative supports EVgo's broader strategy of deploying charging infrastructure in high-traffic retail environments while helping Regency advance its sustainability objectives and prepare its properties for growing electric vehicle adoption.
