Finland’s K Group stores to offer high power charging stations
K Group is joining IONITY’s Europe-wide network of electric car charging stations with the roll out of three high power charging (HPC) stations at K Group store sites on key motorways running from Helsinki towards Turku, Tampere, and Lahti.
The HPC stations, with charging capacity of up to 350 kW, will complement K Group’s existing network of public fast charging stations.
“Charging points situated at our store locations will blend seamlessly into the everyday lives of our customers,” said Johan Friman, President of Kesko’s car trade division.
In a recent survey conducted by the Finnish retail conglomerate, 59% of its customers wanted to have more public charging points in Finland.
The Finnish government also aims to increase the number of electric cars on Finnish roads to 250,000 by 2030 and to build 2,000 public charging points by 2020.

IONITY, a joint venture by Volkswagen, BMW, Daimler, and Ford, aims to build an extensive network of electric car charging stations along major routes across Europe, with a target of some 400 HPC stations by 2020. The stations will use the European charging standard CCS, with cross-brand compatibility.
