Florida: 7-Eleven hands out free water after accusations of price gouging
After reports of price gouging on cases of bottled water, 7-Eleven said last Friday is would donate $150,000 to the American Red Cross and hand out 4,800 cases of free water.
As Hurricane Irma approached southeastern U.S., 7‑Eleven pledged a $150,000 donation for disaster relief efforts and free water at its Florida locations.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been or who may soon be affected by Hurricane Irma, including our 7‑Eleven employees and customers,” said Chris Tanco, Chief Operating Officer.
Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi told ABC Action News in Tampa that her office received 39 complaints about prices on cases of water at Tampa Bay 7-Elevens.
