USA: 7-Eleven partners with GreenPrint to reduce energy footprint
7-Eleven, Inc. is making new effort to reduce its energy footprint by launching a test program called RENEW this month at 95 stores in Portland, Seattle and Madison, Wisconsin.
RENEW is a reduced emissions program 7-Eleven is launching in collaboration with GreenPrint, a company promoting sustainability through the retail gasoline, fleet and consumer product industries.
Customers will be able to reduce emissions by simply purchasing the same they have always pumped at 7-Eleven stores. GreenPrint will calculate tailpipe emissions from gasoline sales to determine the amount to invest in certified carbon reduction projects to help neutralize those emissions in the atmosphere. Depending on the type of fuel purchased, emissions can be offset by up to 30 percent.
"This program, coupled with our 2025 corporate social responsibility targets, furthers our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint, and offers customers a way to make a positive impact on the environment and their local communities,” says Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven President and Chief Executive Officer.
For every gallon of gas purchased in the 7-Eleven RENEW program, an investment will be made in reforestation, green-scape projects, wildlife protection and renewable energy projects designed to help reduce car emissions.
