Ionity expands HPC locations in UK
The company launched the first of six locations in Scotland and it's planning a total of 40 sites in Great Britain, each of them with up to four charging stations.
The first of six planned Ionity sites in Scotland has now been connected to the grid. This location will serve with four HPC charging stations (with a charging capacity of up to 350 kW) behind the English-Scottish border on the A74. The HPC chargers in Gretna Green are located on the site of the filling station operator Motor Fuel Group (MFG).
In the UK, Ionity is also working with the Motor Fuel Group (MFG), which operates over 900 filling stations of various brands. “Close collaboration with site partners like MFG is crucial to achieving a zero-emission future and IONITY’s network is finally giving EVs in the UK the kind of charging speeds their owners want,” said COO Markus Groll.
Outside of the UK, Ionity announced the opening of the first Spanish site in Palleja, according to its Twitter. In Germany, a site in Nempitz near Leipzig is also running after a long construction time, and 15 more motorway services are underway across the country.
Ionity, which has recently passed the 150 site mark, expects to have 400 sites in operation by the end of 2020. This means that a new charging park would need to be roll out every second day.
