Japan firm in talks with big c-store on bitcoin use
Tokyo-based bitcoin company, BITPoint Japan Co., plans to introduce bitcoin in hundreds of thousands of convenience stores and other retail stores in Japan, reports Bloomberg.
BITPoint's president Genki Oda disclosed that they are discussing the use of bitcoin with a big convenience store operator. Announcement on the partnership will be made early next year.
The company has been doing business with certain retailers and aims to expand this relationship to more retail outlets.
Talks with a payment terminal services supplier are also being held to facilitate the use of the digital currency in the retail industry.
Bitcoin allows people to transact sans government regulations, however, companies in Japan including BITPoint accepted regulations implemented last month which recognize digital currencies as a form of payment.
