Malaysian agro-food firm to enter c-store business
Maxincome Resources Sdn Bhd, a unit of Malaysian multinational agro-food firm QL Resources Berhad, signed a 20-year exclusive franchise with Japan c-store chain FamilyMart Co. Ltd. to open and develop FamilyMart convenience stores in Malaysia, according to The Star.
FamilyMart can provide a strategic downstream expansion for QL Resources’ food processing, manufacturing, and distribution business, according to the company.
The first store is expected to open by the end of the year in Kuala Lumpur, with plans to launch 300 outlets in five years.
More than 17,000 FamilyMart convenience stores have been operating in Japan, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, and Vietnam.
