Mauritius hosts introduction of ‘new generation’ Shell fuel card
Vivo Energy Mauritius, which markets Shell fuels and lubricants, said in a statement issued May 6 that it has introduced the new Shell Card Africa, a card which is described as being an entirely new generation.
The card allows the fuel station pump to identify the customer and allows them, especially those operating fleets, to better manage their fuel costs, the company said.
Security controls and personal codes help control fraud and the card can be configured to recognize a geographic area, a specific product or the frequency or even times of purchase, the company said.
The card will soon have compatibility for SMS use, Vivo added.
The card, which shows the image of Africa in the center, can be purchased either prepaid or to be paid monthly, for services ranging from fuel to car washes.
Vivo Mauritius has 44 stations. Vivo runs nearly 1,500 stations in Africa, all selling Shell fuels and lubricants.
