OrangeGas opens 60th biomethane filling station in Netherlands
Dutch alternative fuel retailer OrangeGas has opened its 60th biomethane filling station in the Netherlands, and is looking to become the green fuel market leader by the end of the year.
In the following weeks, OrangeGas will be opening more green gas filling stations as part of a 13 million Euro (USD 14.75 m) investment in the alternative fuel retailing market.
The 60th station has been developed in collaboration with Van de Broek Oil, which operates Elan gas stations and is one of the largest dealers of Total fuels.
“Green gas is the future, we are convinced of that. Actually, we were not as well established in the market and found a reliable partner in OrangeGas we were looking for. We have high expectations of this ‘green’ addition to our station,” said Toon Kuypers, from Van den Broek.
Many in the Netherlands have been pushing for a greater importance of the alternative fuel market. The new OrangeGas site will be one of the 140 natural gas stations in the country, which service around 11,000 natural gas vehicles (NGVs). OrangeGas operates around 60 of them, offering 100% biomethane.
“There’s a future in sustainable driving. The range of cars that run on alternative fuels is increasing. And sustainable driving is getting cheaper,” explains Marcel Borger, OrangeGas director.
“That’s why we have the ‘Orange Dream’: we want to open stations where only renewable fuels are offered: Green Gas, electric charging stations and hydrogen in the future. We also want to expand to two other countries in Europe,” he added.
