Sainsbury's unveils first airport store at Edinburgh Airport
The site will serve customers passing through from both arrivals and departures.
Sainsbury’s has opened its first convenience store to be located at an airport with its latest inauguration at Edinburgh Airport.
Located before security with multiple customer entrances, the new store will be open 24 hours a day to serve and help customers passing through from both arrivals and departures. The location provides a curated selection of the brand’s convenience products.
Customers can also take advantage of a new Click & Collect service in the store, enabling them to order online from the chain’s Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing brands for collection.
“We want to build on the resounding success of our other travel hub stores, for example in UK train stations, and we’ll be listening closely to feedback from customers in the coming weeks to learn more about what they want to see from this kind of Local,” said Patrick Dunne, Director of Property, Procurement & EV Ventures at Sainsbury’s.
The company’s investment includes a store team of 26 colleagues, who will work together to support good causes in the community. This includes redistributing surplus food locally to those who need it most via the retailer’s partnership with Neighbourly.
Sainsbury’s employs over 7,000 colleagues in Scotland and has 100 Scottish stores, a combination of supermarkets and Locals, as well as around 60 Argos stores.
