Second 7-Eleven store equipped with facial recognition tech opens in Taiwan
President Chain Store Corporation, operator of 7-Eleven stores in Taiwan, has opened a second unmanned store in Taipei following the success of its first 'X-Store'.
Located in the Xinyi District, the new store is also equipped with facial recognition system for entry, payments, and checkout.
Customers are also given the option to use icash 2.0 card to carry out transactions inside the 24-hour unmanned convenience store.
The store also has a smart ATM machine that uses finger vein and facial biometrics and offers multi-language bank services, explained Hsu Yi- hsiung, chief of the company's project management department, in an interview with Focus Taiwan News Channel.
The company expects the X-store to be well received like its first store, whose number of customers increased by 50 percent in six months and with revenues increased in one month.
