Shell Recharge expands EV innovation with new China lab
Partnership with SINEXCEL focuses on ultra-fast charging, smart energy management and fleet electrification technologies.
Shell Recharge has launched a joint innovation laboratory with SINEXCEL in Shenzhen, China, aimed at advancing next-generation electric vehicle (EV) charging technologies. The facility will act as a hub for research, technical exchange and pilot projects, focusing on improving efficiency and scalability across charging infrastructure.
Key development areas include ultra-fast charging systems, cloud-based energy management, integration of solar and storage solutions, megawatt charging for heavy-duty vehicles, and AI-driven operations and maintenance.
“This Joint Laboratory is not just a platform for tackling core technical challenges, but also an innovation hub for exploring new business models and co-creating customer value,” said Evan Li, Chief Engineer of Shell E-Mobility China. “By blending our global energy retail expertise with cutting-edge hardware, we aim to accelerate the transformation of advanced R&D into real-world productivity.”
The agreement also includes coordination on product development and global deployment strategies, aligning both companies on long-term market expansion.
