SPAR Gran Canaria is maintaining its focus on energy efficiency in line with its environmental protection programme. The retailer has announced several breakthroughs to boost its commitment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

The first announcement involves the generation of energy through photovoltaic solar plants at their logistics centers. The convenience store chain has boosted solar power generation at its fruit and vegetable logistics center in Mercalaspalmas in order to reduce CO2 emissions.

In addition, the SPAR Spain partner introduced improvements that help reduce its carbon footprint by optimizing energy efficiency at its SPAR Ingenio, SPAR Málaga, and SPAR Las Canteras stores. The renovations have included new LED lighting systems and state-of-the-art vertical refrigerator cabinets, with closing systems that retain low temperatures and generate significant energy savings.

During the thorough update, the stores have been transformed into highly functional spaces that offer an enhanced shopping experience. SPAR Gran Canaria prioritizes projects and initiatives that advance sustainable measures, creating more efficient and environmentally friendly stores and Distribution Centers.
