Tamoil opens first 'blue diesel' pump in North Holland
Diesel drivers from the municipality of Alkmaar will be able to drive fossil-free.
Blue diesel has been on sale at Tamoil Express stations in Akkrum, Drachten, Kollum, Leeuwarden, Marrum, Suameer, Winsum and Wolvega since April. After a successful test period at these sites, Tamoil is looking into the possibilities of offering Blue Diesel to more of its stations outside of Friesland.
Blue diesel B100 is an HVO, a Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, which is produced entirely from renewable and sustainable raw materials. This diesel is completely fossil-free and low-emission, according to Tamoil. Blue diesel is made from waste and residues. The raw materials are not at the expense of the food chain, but have always served a food purpose first.
In addition, blue diesel B100 reduces CO2 emissions by as much as 89% compared to ordinary diesel.
