Tesla to set foot in oil-producing UAE
Electric car manufacturer Tesla is expected to officially launch its operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this month, reports The National.
Tesla owners in the UAE received invites for the February 13th launching at the Armani hotel in the Burj Khalifa tower, where Tesla CEO Elon Musk is anticipated to be present.
Musk will be in Dubai to attend the fifth edition of the World Government Summit (WGS 2017) the day before.
Another sign that the e-car company is entering into the oil-producing region are the job vacancies on its website, where it shows that it is currently looking for a service advisor, service manager, and service technician in Dubai.
There are already hundreds of Tesla car owners in the region despite the absence of Tesla sales and service, according to the website electrek.co.
The Dubai Water and Electricity Authority (DEWA), as part of the government's Dubai Green Mobility Initiative, plans to further increase electric vehicles and set up more charging stations across the country.
Tesla's launch in the UAE will officially mark its footprint in the Middle East.
