USA: Trump's Agriculture Secretary confirms support for ethanol
Ethanol to continue being pushed by U.S. Government after Donald Trump's agriculture secretary declares that “ethanol is here to stay.”
Sonny Perdue, recently confirmed as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, confirmed the support for ethanol in his first policy speech in Nevada. Sporting a “Don’t Mess with the RFS” pin, Perdue said that renewable energy, including ethanol, is here to stay and that the government will be working for new technologies to be more efficient.
Many believed that President Trump would turn his back on ethanol and modify the Renewable Fuel Standard, especially after he tapped an ethanol opponent as head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), reports The Gazette.
The American Coalition for Ethanol encouraged members of the community to thank Perdue for USDA’s support of Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership (BIP) grant funds, which will help install nearly 5,000 new pumps for E15 and higher blends of ethanol at nearly 1,500 stations nationwide.
