Valora expands global pretzel production
The Swiss company is making significant investments to expand the capacity of Ditsch in the U.S. and Europe.
Valora Group is bolstering its position as the world’s leading pretzel producer through significant expansions at its Ditsch subsidiary, which sells over 900 million baked goods annually in 38 countries. To meet the growing global demand for pretzel products, Valora is investing heavily in both the United States and Germany, according to a LinkedIn post by the company.
A newly opened bakery in Cincinnati, Ohio, represents a key part of this growth strategy. Valora has invested more than €60 million in the facility, which is expected to triple Ditsch's production capacity in the medium term. This U.S. site is part of Ditsch's transatlantic strategy to enhance production for the North American market.
Valora is also expanding operations in Germany, where it has allocated more than €30 million to enhance production capacities at its Oranienbaum bakery and optimize its Mainz facility. Both sites are crucial to the company’s ability to meet rising European demand for artisan-style pretzel products, according to the company.
