Wawa opens 1,000th store
The retailer has reached the milestone after inaugurating its newest site in New Jersey.
Wawa has announced a monumental milestone in its history with the opening of its 1,000th store, located in Oaklyn, New Jersey.
The retailer celebrated the inauguration by gifting 1,000 keepsake t-shirts for the first 1,000 customers as well as a ribbon-cutting ceremony with giveaways and free coffee.
The outlet is fully equipped with a built-to-order, fresh food kitchen. In addition to the store-level experience, customers can access their favorites through mobile ordering, curbside pickup, delivery options and its newest Catering Online offer, where customers can order food for their upcoming events.
“As we mark our sustained growth, we want to thank all our amazing customers and associates for getting us to where we are today. None of this would be possible without you. Here’s to 1,000 and beyond!,” said Chris Gheysens, Wawa’s Chief Executive Officer.
Wawa is celebrating its 1,000th store in the backyard of the place where it all began more than 200 years ago as a New Jersey iron foundry. The company entered the retail business in April of 1964 with the opening of its first store in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Now, 59 years, six states, 45,000 associates, and 1,000 stores later, the retailer continues to live by its original core purpose to fulfill lives, every day.
